How do I get an update on a patient’s condition?

We are bound to protect the confidentiality of our patients and cannot release any medical information without patient consent. In some circumstances, the general condition of a patient may be released (for example, “Good, Fair, Serious or Critical”); specific information related to the nature of a patient’s illness or injuries, or personal information, will only be released with the signed consent of the patient or family member.

What is your policy for media visiting The Scarborough Hospital?

Our hospital policy requires all members of the media to be supervised by a Corporate Communications representative or designate while on TSH property. Our first priority is to ensure patient confidentiality and minimal disruption to patient care. Only patients, family members or visitors who have signed a TSH Media Consent form may be interviewed, photographed or videotaped on hospital property.
